Having a personal trainer is important if you want to stand a high chance of reaching your goals, I guarantee results because I have been there and done it BUT YOU MUST follow my advice.

People do not place enough attention on their health, in this day and age, spending money on activities that put their health at risk (drinking, smoking, bad eating habits, drugs) it is essential that you look after yourself if you want to enjoy a long healthy life. Having guidance is essential in reaching your goals and achieving results that will last, if you are injured, have health issues or are pregnant it is even more important to have the correct care. Achieving health goals will bring self confidence and increased self esteem, it will make you feel happy, healthy and be in a better place psychologically, I have been there I know how it feels to feel the way you are feeling right now.

I was 17 stone unfit, unmotivated and very very unhappy, there was no one in a worse way than me, through sheer determination and later on the help of a personal trainer I transformed my life, my mind and my body into a person that I don’t even recognise now, I feel amazing and im doing this job to help you achieve what I have achieved. At 5ft 7 I now now weigh 9 stone, I’m a size 8, have 2 blackbelts, a psychology degree and a coaching certificate. I am a qualified kickboxing instructor, personal trainer and advanced instructor with reps and I hold a psychology degree. If I can do it so can you… let me get you there!

My training experiences have determined my style of training, I am goal driven and very focused and feel the same way about your goals and training. I will push you hard and get the most from you without killing you, what is the point in putting in 50% and getting 50% back when you can put in 100% and get maximum results ? If you want a trainer that is going to take it easy on you and let you get away with being lazy then I am not the trainer for you. I will be honest and straight talking and I expect the same in return. I want people that are serious about reaching their goals and willing to work hard, I will motivate you and believe in your abilities 1000% and I will give you all I have to get you to where you want to be but you have to do your part, work hard and be committed, i’m not interested in taking your money im interested in getting you results.

The first step

Initial consultation – goals – rapport building – paperwork

Firstly we need to define and discuss your personal goals, you can email me a little bit about this and then I will arrange a consultation at Fitness First or your home where time permits (Im exceedingly busy so home visits will only be arranged if you are close to Fitness First). This will involve collecting information, explaining what personal training entails and the services i offer, talking about goals, discussing payment options/gym membership options and getting to know each other. If at this point you are happy to continue we can fill out paperwork, alternatively you can go away, have a think and get back to me.

The second meeting

Health check – Photos and measurements – Fitness testing

The second meeting will be a more active session, some base line tests such as blood pressure, flexibility tests, possible fitness tests, measurements and pictures (if agreed) will be taken. This session is to gather base line readings from which you can improve, it also helps me to keep a record of your progress. Fitness testing and measurements will be repeated at set intervals throughout your training time to assess whether you are achieving your goals and amend any areas within your training and nutrition. You may also begin to discuss your program and learn some of the exercises and correct form for the exercises that have been prescribed in your workout. At this point I will expect you to write me a food diary so I can see your eating habits but I will explain more about this at the consultation.

The third session

Begin exercise prescription – Postural guidance

On the third session you will begin your first training session. I will ensure that you are performing the exercises correctly, teaching you correct form and will motivate and encourage you throughout your session. Your session will be based on exercises that were discussed in the consultation meeting so you should find your sessions interesting and fun. However bear in mind that sometimes your goals may mean you have to attempt things you may not be keen on. Your trainer will however always endeavour to work with you on your program and you will not be forced to do anything you feel strongly about.

After the third session

Once the first few sessions are out of the way your trainer will continue to work with you on your personalised program, ensuring that you are correctly performing the exercises and getting the most from your training. Programme’s usually run on a 4 week progressive design, this means that you will continue to perform the program you have been given for 4 weeks and then your trainer will change elements of your program. This is for 2 reasons; firstly to keep the body guessing (our bodies adapt to exercise very quickly) and secondly to keep things interesting and keep you as a client motivated (there is nothing worse than a boring program) As a trainer I am constantly assessing you as you go along so if I think you have progressed before this time I will move you on sooner.

Once you feel you have achieved your goals you can continue to set new goals. Your trainer will always work with you to tailor your program to achieve the results you want, whether this be losing fat, gaining muscle, becoming more flexible, improving your cardiovascular fitness, improving your balance, losing post natal pounds, fighting the ageing process, increasing your strength and power, changing your eating habits or improving any health related; the list is endless.
